myPlaylist (8)

Love. Hip-Hop. & Rap.

myPlaylist (2)

This one may be familiar to non-South Africans from the film Tsosti, it is such a South African BOP and I really love it! Its raw, its edgy and authoritative. The song basically says the streets must know that we are here and you better not Fu*#K? with us! Nigga you better take cover because we are here.

myPlaylist (3)

ProKid what a legend. His home is right around the corner from my great-grandmother’s house, where I spent some of my younger years growing up. He sadly passed away recently and he really had good music. On this one he was basically saying, listen I still run these street and have not lost my flow. Stop listening to that international stuff, come eLoxion (ghetto/hood) and listen to the real stuff.

myPlaylist (4)

If there is a great couple that ever existed, it is this one right here. AKA shares with us his love that he expressed for the Queen B AKA Bonang – see what I did there? Haha. The beat on this one is so GOAT. Listening to the song you can hear that he is still hurting and maybe has hope that they will get back together. I don’t know maybe I am misreading the song or I just really want them to get back together.

myPlaylist (5)

This one is from my favorite albums by Tupac – Me Against The World. You can hear the pain and the challenges he faced during his time in this world. He talks about struggling to sleep having nightmares about his enemies plotting to kill him, the struggles of being a black kid in America and the struggle of being him in general. You can also hear that he was over it and was just not phased by it anymore. It was his normal.

myPlaylist (6)

What a party starter this one is!!! The song is basically about the type of girls that he is associated with now. Reason the rapper is cools people and funny, that much I can tell you about him, I met him a few times and watching him perform live was too nice. You can’t help but want to be in his shoes when you listen to the song.

myPlaylist (7)

The perfect song to get you in the mood for a good night out with the girls or guys. Tshego another South African Hip Hop artist and bomb ass producer, I love his stuff always. I mean he has given us hits like Hennessy and  Garden – my favorites. His harmonic flowy style of music is what makes me weak in the knees. I think I have a crush on him…

The Summer Playlist – Part 3

myPlaylist (1)

Kanye! Raising my hands up for this one, appreciating his significant other. This is my favourite song on the Ye album because I know that the person he is describing in the song is me. I am that person for a special somebody somewhere in the universe. I believe in sticking it in for the right reasons, after all it is a team effort. I remember it like it was yesterday, the sunset on the beach with my hair flicking in the breeze and him playing in the background.

arizona

I was introduced to these guys by me lovely friend and I fell in love. This song attentively evokes emotions in a way that you didn’t even know, that they existed. I love how he reaches out and reassures her that he just wants to show her true love and that it is okay; that it might suck at times  but it’s going to beautiful in the end.

bob

Love, Light, and Bliss is all that I can think about when I hear this one. Is it is so care free and very fresh, also dedicated to his lovely partner. It is music like this that gives me hope that humans like this exist, all he wants to do is love and treat her right. It’s the little things in the song that give me the shivers down my spine.

marcia

You can’t help but fall in love when you hear this one, the smooth Jamaican pulsation in the song drives your hips in the right direction. She is the only girl on this playlist and, she still loves you even though you don’t know how to kiss her.

una

I believe him when he says ‘’I love you 10x more’’ on this one, driven by reggae inspired tunes. All I can imagine right now is a group of singles around a fire on the beach with the sounds of the waves crashing ashore and Una in the background or even in person *lol*. I love how the guys on this playlist are very emotive, baring their feelings in the music.

myPlaylist (16)

This is a happy song period! You are the one for me! Wizkid and Ty Dolla $ign came through with this one. I think this should be a song you play to celebrate two people in love. It has that African thing going on in it, you just want to do what we call in South Africa “iStep”, it’s a step that’s all you must know, come to SA & we will show you. There is so much love in this song and it makes me so happy.

Always In Love,

The Summer Playlist – Part 2

myPlaylist (1)

From the SEX excerpt of the album l like this very funky beat, it makes for the perfect setting of some volleyball on the beach and beach bodies all over the places, great opportunity to be bold & tell that guy you like very much how you feel *wink-wink*. Confidence and Power is all over this song. Get your sunnies and go play with other children at the beach.

myPlaylist (2)

Outwardly spoken with no shame, she will be there for you and take care of you. So light like a leaf you won’t even know she’s there. Men want to be needed and I think I can fulfill that position whilst I sit here next to you and absorb the sun’s rays *grins*

myPlaylist (3)

Sia takes us on a journey in this one, sharing the story of the guy who is afraid to take the leap and tell her how he feels. She reaches out, reassures him to trust her and tells him it’s safe. Ladies sometimes we just have to ease him into it, especially if he is afraid. Take his hand & walk him down the stream, show him how perfect life can be in your world.

myPlaylist (4)

This is supposed to be an all-female playlist, I know! Beyoncé takes the lead on this one, this sexy sultry summer song makes you want to let go of everything and anything, so that he can feel exactly how you feel. The full might of your body and feelings.

myPlaylist (5)

This band I saw them live for the first time in East Nashville and when they performed this song, the woman inside me was awoken – The Givah! (In my South African accent). I just want to make it right and take away all the pain – dammit! Just listening to it I can feel myself giving it all. I don’t have any words for this one but feeling. Just listen to it, sip on that sundowner and watch the sunset from the other side of the lake.

myPlaylist (6)

Female sexual liberation & Domination is written all over this one. You have no choice but to feel powerful when you hear this one!  I need to hear this one at least 6 times a day. When all is said and done You’ll believe God Is A Woman. I should make it my anthem for the rest of the year.

The Summer Playlist – Part 1

myPlaylist (9)

This summer is going to hurt like a Muther! Lots of sun bathing, late summer nights, cocktails over there and bad romances. We might as well enjoy it whilst it lasts. The ultimate beaching song, I mean imagine the sound of the waves that, cool summer breeze and the sun kissing your glistening skin?

myPlaylist (10)

We’re all connected as a people and we all gravitate towards the same things that attract us, this song is exactly about that. Finding that one person and you hit it off the first time and the relationship is just organic. Good summer Vibes all day.

myPlaylist (11)

He has mastered the art of galvanizing his unique music sound with great artists, songwriting, and storytelling. If you’ve ever been shotgun you’ll get this one, otherwise just play the song it’s a beautiful sunny song & remember to do your homework later.

myPlaylist (12)

Okay this one is my favorite and I was introduced to this one by a very good looking gentleman who offered me ride home after we had drinks at a bar. Talks about how a “spliff” can help keep the ‘’D’evils’’ away. This one is meant just for that, chill, listen and beach. Easy.

myPlaylist (13)

The song is about love and trusting issues, especially with someone new. This is always the case when you meet someone new, you’re always attracted by the physical. The difficult comes when you actually have to open yourself up – bare yourself. I have a feeling this is going to be happening all summer…ugh.

myPlaylist (14)

What better way but Bebe Rexha to end this awesome summer playlist. Very edgy and forward thinking song, I love how she  embodies the strength of a woman on this song and not shying away from letting this guy know that hey, you can let me in, I got you?! – true story – after listening to the song a couple of times I slid this song as a message to a guy and I’ll leave it there…The summer story continues in Part 2 of the playlist.

Break-Ups. Love. & Chance

myPlaylist (1)

The aftermath of a night stand is the worst! Laughing Out Loud, you’re bound to have one in your life. It starts with the attraction, the great conversations, a couple of drinks, the knotting of feeling that leads to promises that will not be fulfilled and the great sex. In the morning you wake up alone and melancholic. I bet you will do it again in the very next week. Shawn makes it bearable with his beautiful voice. I love his voice.

myPlaylist (2)

“Show me your True colors? Are we really doing this or not? I will take you as you are, good or bad, All you have to do is show me your True Self, the colors are very blurred at the moment” I think that says it all. This is my favourite track on the Starboy album.

myPlaylist (3)

The songs tells us how one does not want be a memory, a one night stand. This is everyone’s struggle with one night stands. You lie to yourself that it will just be a one time thing and before you know it the next day you’re blasting Sinead on your stereo. Even if you’re a pro at one night stands, you have that one who got away from your sheets.

myPlaylist (4)

The song is about the break-up you did not see coming and I bet you it sucks. I personally have not experienced it before but listening to this song makes me feel like it happened to me before. It makes me want to fall in love and have an unexpected break so that I can feel what Miguel is feeling in the song, and write about it. I probably sound silly right now, to want to feel that way. That’s music for Me – it touches and moves me.

myPlaylist (5)

When your relationship ends and you’re not ready to move on from the relationship – is what this song is about. The emotions, the feelings and all that moosh-moosh. Imagine the scenario, late night in the city of your dreams in a late night Diner or outside your moms house having that conversation with your other half who wants out and you’re just hoping that he/she is willing to make it work…sigh.

myPlaylist (6)

I think this song sums up the playlist beautifully, it is also about a break-up but it gives you hope. It is a sentimental song and positive at the same time. It gives you that feeling of inner peace, you appreciate the failed relationship for what it was and all the little things that made it special; even in the emotional turmoil you’re in.

In Love,

Happy Pride Season🌈

myPlaylist (1)

To kick this playlist off I thought I should dedicate this beautiful song to all LGBTQI individuals struggling to accept themselves for who they are because of fear of what others might say and letting all of the societal influences keep them away from living their best authentic lives.

You are special beautiful one, God recognizes You.

myPlaylist (2)

This is one is about content. It’s about finally getting the strength to leave that toxic boy or girls or whatever “THEY” identify as. I think we have all experienced it! I call it the song of liberation.

myPlaylist (3)

The collaboration between Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande is the ultimate jubilee song for this summer and I can see it being a major pride anthem, with the favourite big-voiced diva Ariana and of course outspoken and proud LGBT artist Troye Sivan! Perfect recipe for success.

myPlaylist (4)

It was difficult trying to choose between SWISH SWISH and BON APPETIT. Swish Swish is a great anthem for all those haters, hating on your shine and the disco vibe is a killer! But then when Bon Appetit blasts out your speaker, the THOT in you wants to give all you can to your other half or should I say your other “night” LMAO.

myPlaylist (5)

Christina has returned just in time for Pride season, the hip-hop influenced and inspired song is very different from whats we would normally hear from her, it actually reminds me of Beyoncé’s verse on TOP OFF it has that vibe. She is definitely moving with the times and I love it!

myPlaylist (6)

What is a playlist without some BEYMagic on it?! I could have chosen any upbeat song because that’s what any gay anthem is, POWERFUL & FABULOUS. This one is different, it is about recognizing the importance of your friends in good times and bad times. The GAYS(everyone in the LGBT community) get it, value “THEM”

Love Always & Blessings,
